Thong

A thong is a narrow piece of swimwear that covers only the front part of your bottoms. Thong can also be referred to as g-string or gee string if the sides and back of the thong are almost as thin as string like material. Thong and g-string are sometimes used interchangeably because they almost look like the same.

Again, as mentioned above, the difference would simply be how thin the material in between the legs and buttocks is. If it’s not as thin like a string, then it is most likely a thong. Generally speaking, a thong is a type of garment that can be worn as an underwear or swimwear both by men and women. There are two major types of thong. The first one is the V-string and the second is the T-string. The V-string as obviously stated in its name forms a triangle or V shaped cloth with the G-string that is between your legs. On the other hand, the T-string makes use of a single string passing all the way to your waist to between your legs and between your buttocks forming a letter T behind.

Nowadays, there are a growing number of people wearing the thong swimwear. However, you will still see more women wearing thongs than men. Now, there is a number of men’s thong swimwear out in the market. The origin of the thong men swimwear comes from the clothing that was used centuries ago. The people who were living under the warmer climates like Africa use thong all the time. Tribes were seen wearing g-strings for centuries.

At the same time, the Japanese fundoshi, which is the traditional swimwear for Japanese men, has been used for more than two thousand years. Given those backgrounds, came the inspiration for men's thong swimwear. The men’s thong swimsuits are often seen in the more liberated countries of Europe and South America. These countries are where you will find a lot of nudist beaches and so thong bathing suit men sport in the beach is very common.

On the other hand, in most Asian and Middle Eastern countries, men's thong swimsuits are hardly ever seen. Thongs swimwear for men is also not that popular in the United States except maybe for the thong or g-string underwear. There are a few however who are wearing men's thong bathing suits in some beaches in America who are more influenced by European tourists. Still, a lot of public beaches and swimming pools even prohibit the use of thong swimwear men in public.
