Tankini

The tankini is named by taking the first word in “tank top” and the end of the word “bikini.” Tankinis are two-piece bathing suits with a typical bikini bottom and a top which resembles a tank top. The bottoms don’t always look like those from a bikini – they can also be designed to look like a “boy short tankini.” The tankini is considered to provide some modesty as opposed to the more risque bikini, but they are also considered sexier as opposed to the everyday one-piece swimsuits. Sexy tankinis are also available to make you feel sexy.

Tankini swimsuits are not only sexy, but they are ideal choices for plus size tankini women. Some tops are made for specialized slimming material, and the skirted tankini has a skirt around the bottom part. This is to provide more coverage for women who don't want to show too much of their thighs. The skirt is good for hiding any “problem” areas, for lack of a better term. Sizes for these can also run anywhere from 12W to 44W. This type of bathing suit can also come with a built-in push up bra, which is most appreciated by any woman.

The tankini swimsuit is also a preferred choice among expectant mothers. The maternity tankini has a top which is divided down the middle, exposing the middle so the woman’s stomach has room as she grows bigger. These types of tankinis are known as a “peek-a-boo” tankini.

Over the years the style of the tankini has changed drastically, even its trademark tankini top. The halter tankini is quite popular. It’s obviously a tankini with a halter top. This type of top is either chosen to flatter one’s physique or simply a matter of preference. This type of bathing suit is certainly not limited to just one or two name brand. If a name brand or designer makes bathing suits, it’s sure enough a guarantee that they make the tankini as well.

Tankini swimwear is not just limited to adults, but they are made for infants and children as well. There is a brand called iPlay tankini, which of course makes the tankini but all types of swim gear for children such as sunglasses and swim shoes.

Like the bikini, the tankini bathing suits is here to stay and has already become a summer staple. Considering the popularity of different types of tankini swim suits, it would not be surprising at all if someday the one-piece will be completely phased out.
